FOR MORE ABLE AND TALENTED YEAR 10 PUPILS
We would like to invite you to nominate pupils who are more mathematically able to attend the Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses to be held at Bangor University. The series of 4 classes will be held on Saturdays in March 2025 from 9:45 am to 12 noon on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th of March.
There will be around 100 places available for pupils from state-funded schools. Each school is guaranteed TWO places. You may list up to five students on the nomination form. The demand for places may be greater than the number available although we will try to offer a place to all pupils who are nominated. If you nominate more than two pupils please put them in priority order so that places may be offered without contacting you.
Please emphasise to your pupils that, whilst we aim to establish an enjoyable working atmosphere, the pupils who will derive the greatest benefit are those who are most attentive and hard working. We would like to encourage teachers, if possible, to nominate at least as many girls as boys for our Masterclasses, as girls are often underrepresented in mathematics.
To nominate your students please email e.w.clode@bangor.ac.uk with the name and email address of the 5 students before the 16th of January 2025
Students will receive information about the classes in January and a parental consent form to be returned. These free sessions will be held in the Small Lecture Theatre, Dean Street, Bangor LL57 1UT. All mathematics teachers are welcome to attend any or all of the masterclasses.
Please ensure that your school has registered with MSPW HERE this academic year before enrolling on any course. If you have any queries, please email e.w.clode@bangor.ac.uk
