Aberystwyth University

Aberystwyth University offers a range of Mathematics first degrees. “Mathematics by the Sea” has been practiced at Aberystwyth since the University first opened. In fact, Aberystwyth was the first University to teach Mathematics in Wales. Teaching methods have certainly changed since the first Professor of Mathematics, Horatio Nelson Grimley, welcomed students in 1872, yet our aim is still to provide the highest quality education in a friendly and supportive environment.

Bangor University

Bangor University does not offer undergraduate Mathematics degrees. It does, however, offer a number of courses related to Mathematics Sciences which you can view here. It also offers a Secondary Mathematics Postgraduate Certificate in Education. The Secondary PGCE programme is designed to provide you with a deep understanding of how children and adolescents learn, and equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to develop as a creative and innovative teacher. You will learn about adolescent’s development through the Secondary sector and be supported to become an excellent teacher. This PGCE with QTS* is recognised across Wales and England and is often transferable* further afield for entry into the teaching profession.

Cardiff Metropolitan University

Cardiff Metropolitan University does not offer undergraduate Mathematics degrees. It does, however, offer a number of courses related to Mathematics Sciences which you can view here. It also offers a Secondary Mathematics Postgraduate Certificate in Education. If you are a graduate with a passion for your specialist subject and a desire to inspire young people, this course is for you! The PGCE Secondary Education degree is a one year course that leads to the award of qualified teacher status.  The course aims to prepare student teachers to be highly-skilled, confident, critically reflective and innovative practitioners who are committed to life-long professional learning and the education of young people.

Cardiff University

Cardiff University offers a range of Mathematics first degrees. A mathematics degree offers you intellectual challenges and provides the skills in demand for a wide range of careers. Perhaps you’ve always been a keen mathematician? Maybe you’re excited by solving problems and puzzles? Or you might want to use your maths skills to expand knowledge in areas as diverse as space travel, software development and complex medicine?

Wrexham Glyndŵr University

Wrexham Glyndŵr University does not offer undergraduate Mathematics degrees. It does, however, offer a number of courses related to Mathematics Sciences which you can view here.

The Open University in Wales

The Open University in Wales offers a range of Mathematics first degrees. With well over 15,000 students each year, you’ll be studying with Europe’s largest provider of university-level mathematics and statistics. Choose from a broad range of topics, including: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, and theoretical physics.

Swansea University

Swansea University offers a range of Mathematics first degrees. The Mathematics Department at Swansea University is based at the Bay Campus, in the £32.5M Computational Foundry. Students and researchers alike will be working in an environment dedicated to the computational sciences. The Foundry is a place where industry partners can work with us, test new ideas and allow our students and researchers to work on real-world problems, a broad range of topics, including: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, and theoretical physics. We offer a variety of courses at UG and PG level, including BSc Actuarial Science and MSc Mathematics for Finance.

University of South Wales

The University of South Wales offers Mathematics BSc (Hons), with or without a Foundation Year. Mathematics is everywhere and everything. It’s an essential part of our everyday lives, from monitoring annual tornado movements to analysing the success of a business. University of Wales Trinity Saint David

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David does not offer undergraduate Mathematics degrees. It does, however, offer a number of courses related to Mathematics Sciences which you can view here. It also offers a Secondary Mathematics Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Strongly aligned to the new curriculum in Wales, our PGCE Mathematics programme will give you the range of teaching skills and knowledge needed for you to qualify as an effective teacher of mathematics. This knowledge, combined with your own enthusiasm for the subject will give you the opportunity to bring Maths to life for all of your pupils.  Our PGCE is challenging, but motivating and invigorating, combining practical strategies and skills with academic enquiry and theory.
